In a Storm? Praise!

I was sure by now,God, that You would have reached down
and wiped our tears away,
stepped in and saved the day.
But once again, I say amen
and it's still raining
as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain,
"I'm with you"
and as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise
the God who gives and takes away.

Chorus:
And I'll praise you in this storm
and I will lift my hands
for You are who You are
no matter where I am
and every tear I've cried
You hold in your hand
You never left my side
and though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

I remember when I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry to You
and raised me up again
My strength is almost gone how can I carry on
if I can't find You
and as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
and as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise
the God who gives and takes away

I lift my eyes onto the hills
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth

What a wonderful song, so full of encouragement! So often we despair and pity ourselves instead of praising the One that is waiting to help us. Why are we so stubborn and proud sometimes? If we would but humble ourselves and praise Him simply because He's worthy, think of what marvelous things He would do!

Salut!

Praise Just Because

I know, I know... Two posts in one day- miracles!!!

A friend testified in church a which back, and it's still working on me. I have to share. Why do we praise God? Is it because we want/need Him to do something? When Paul and Silas were in prison, they praised and sang praises at midnight. They had absolutely no idea what God was going to do. They praised and sang just because they could. Just because God is good all the time, no matter the circumstances. Just because He's worthy. Just because they loved Him. How many other times had they been in that same position and still praised? This time was different because we read that God broke them out of jail. But they didnt know He was going to when they began to hum a tune, then eventually broke out into full blown singing. They praised just because, not because they expected to get something in return.

Salut!

A Matter of Opinion

First let me make the disclaimer that nothing has happened to my children or any children I know. I saw something that made me think, and since that doesn't happen often, I thought I'd ask your opinion.

When it comes to getting information from a person regarding the safety of others, is torture ok if it leaves no lasting physical effects? In the war against terrorism, is it ok to torture people we suspect might have information on the next attack in order to save countless other lives? If a child has been kidnapped, is it ok to torture the kidnapper into talking? What if it were your child- how far would you be willing to go in order to find your baby?

Just a thought....

Salut!
