Use your words!!!

This is a concept we've been working on with our children. When they get angry at one another, they don't know how to react, and tend to use fists or feet to make a point. Invariably, I say, "Use your words!!" We've also been talking about when feelings have been hurt. Bottling up that hurt causes it to turn to anger, and, if not taken care or, the anger can turn to bitterness, ruining lives in the process. Some people never learn this important lesson, or simply forget it. Communication is such a vital part of any relationship. How do you expect a person to change if you don't let them know that what they're doing is bothering you? How can they apologize for hurting you if they don't know they've done so?

There's an edge to this, though. Using words can be constructive only if used correctly. Saying hurtful, hateful things is not what going to help any situation. Proverbs 31 talks about the law of kindness being in the tongue. That's the only form of communication- kind words- that will ever accomplish anything. You know the saying, "You can catch more flies with honey than vinegar"? Well, it's true. Use your words correctly- kindly, lovingly, thoughtfully, carefully, in a timely fashion- and you'll be well on your way to a life rich with friends.

Today, I encourage you: use your words!!

Salut!
